Have found a MI courtesy of Matt on RC and wondered if anyone lived near and would be willing to go and look at the headstone to see if a wife is mentioned
Many thanks

Hi Karen,
Buittle Kirkyard and Cemetery (Stewartry M I's) are both recorded on the link below, they also include a photograph of the headstones. Hope this can help.

Have seen that hmcc but think there is more on the headstone than has been transcribed and I also can't read it
-
The photographs are dated 2001, it may be that the inscription is illegible in part. What headstone are you looking at Karen?

John Copland died 8 Nov 1799 aged 99 years....he is on the back of his sons headstone...John Copland and Elizabeth Roan
Thanks

I will check Buittle MIs in the local library later this week, hope they might have some more info in the books. The headstone will be a lot harder to read now, compared to the photograph some 16years earlier.
