Post by: DavyTee68 on Wednesday 01 November 17 23:00 GMT (UK)
Hi
If anyone would like me to photograph a Headstone or Memorial in the above areas I would be happy to do so.
Just let me know who, where and when.

Hi Dave
Have just seen your post and hope the.  offer is still open?

I have an ancestors buried as below. They are Andrew Robinson (known also as Robertson but as Robinson his death cert) and Isabella Robinson nee McDougal. Don't know if the headstone is still there, by the look of it they are in the same plot.

Andrew was buried on 8 Nov 1869 in the Westgate Hill General Cemetery (Ward W grave 77) Newcastle upon Tyne (Register of Internments, 1869, #14268. Isabella buried  Buried at Westgate Hill cemetery (Ward w grave 77) Register of burials 1879 #16115

Many thanks
Meegan

The cemetery is in very poor condition and unkempt with a lot of vandalised headstones so may be pot luck if I find anything but I'll try 😉

Thanks so much, Davey. Even a photo of the main entrance is something. Don't spend too much time chasing what might be a non-existent headstone/s though
Cheers

Added: Perhaps Westgate Cemetery may not be the same one as Westgate Hill so hopefully my original post below may not be relevant and there may still be a chance of inscriptions being found.

There is a book at Newcastle library giving the monumental inscriptions for Westgate Cemetery.  (Newcastle library has a good selection of monumental inscription books for particular sites/areas around Northumberland - this is especially useful when gravestones may have been cleared. e.g. many of the gravestones at St Paul, Whitley Bay for example.)

Unfortunately the people listed are not recorded.
Only Robinson's are Christopher, Sarah, William, Ralph John, Ed.Daniel, William, Robert and Jane.  No Robertsons.

There is a William and Margaret McDougall.  Are these related to Isabella perhaps?

Thanks River Tyne Lass.

Think there is a Westgate Hill cemetery but not used anymore. Will do some more searching but I agree there may not be much available and probably no headstones

Many thanks for your effort for me

Went to Westgate Hill Cemetery yesterday as been very ill with this flu bug going around thus the delay lol
It's in a very poor state, I had a good look around once I stepped over the junkies lying flat out stoned. Nothing to report I'm afraid and with it being such a dodgy area didn't really want to get the camera out lol sorry hun
Have attached a photo of the entrance

Hi Davy,
hope you are feeling better?
Hope you can help me by visiting Tudhoe Cemetery for my gt granny Jane Wiseman, nee Ramage,
she died 8th July 1896; buried 12th July 1896. She is
in Section B; grave 346. I don't know if there's a headstone or if she even has a grave to herself.

Thanks in anticipation,  Moira

Thanks you so much, Davey Tee. Appreciate your time and effort, sounds as though it isn't the most salubrious place

The photo much appreciated

Hello

Wondering if you are still available to track down some stones?  I am looking for my Great Great and my Great Grandfathers who are both buried in Elswick Cemetery.  I am down South and struggling to get up to visit.  If you can help me I have the sections and grave numbers  :)

Kind Regards
Sophie
