Trying to trace Jane McMillan born in Irvine. She was married to Duncan Rose 1872 Govan.

Can you clarify exactly what info you are looking for?  If you are seeking her parentage - downloading a copy of the 1872 marriage cert from SP will give you that info

You have presumably traced her on the 1881 census to get her birthplace - birthyear is shown as 1854

You need to download a copy of the 1872 marriage cert to get her parentage

The 1861 has a Jane McMellen (probably mistranscribed) b Irvine 1856 - parents William and Ann

However - in 1871 there are 2 entries for her name - one b 1853 and in lodgings in Irvine and the other b 1853 living in Irvine with parents Robert and Mary

EDIT - in 1861 - the one with parents Robert & Mary is shown as Janet aged 8 and they have a 14yr old daughter Jane

Jane & Janet were interchangeable names
