Title: Location Land League Terrace in 1880s.
Post by: grizzly1 on Friday 16 February 18 11:53 GMT (UK)
Hi.
I have come across an article in the media with an address of.. 'Land league Terrace' North Circular rd Dublin in 1884, Im now finding it difficult to pinpoint the exact location.

I do know that in January 1884 a Mary O'Flaherty lived at number 3 Land league Tce and it was a 'lodging house'.

Because of the era and political strife regs the 'Land wars' etc I have found the naming of the Terrace very unusual.

Im hoping that someone may be able to enlighten me as to what stands there now, or if it was renamed.

Thank you Dathai, very likely, now to get to the reasoning behind such a 'rebellious' name, perhaps a nationalist landlord ?..bit Ironic it next to the Prison ?

This is the Civil Death record of Mary Anne STANLY LINK (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1884/06337/4817289.pdf)
who died on Jan 20 1884 at 3 Land League Terrace

Her son was born in 1878 LINK (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1879/02932/2074431.pdf)
although it shows the father as her husband, the address is the same as her brother James was living at in 1884 at the time of the inquest and article

Baptism of her son in 1879 LINK (https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/display-pdf.jsp?pdfName=rathmines_mf_1823-1886_ba_0625)
this states that the parents are not married

Yes the young woman had a child some years prior to her death, perhaps part of the reason the young man involved with her at the time was under pressure from his family to break his contact with her...The young man in question would Marry shortly after to another woman, but would pass away at the relatively young age.
