Title: George H Walden - Coldstream Guards 1942
Post by: misstinkerbell77 on Thursday 19 April 18 20:14 BST (UK)
Good evening,

I am trying to find out about my grandfathers time in the Coldstream Guards and wonder if anyone has access to any records. I am unable to spare £30 for the MoD search currently.

His details are:

George Henry Walden
b. 11 Nov 1910
m. 1 Aug 1942 (Mabel Rosetta Clark)
d. 12 Jun 1976

On his marriage certificate it states he is a Private in the Coldstream Guards.  He was born and lived in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Any information or guidance would be gratefully received.

Julie

You could try The Coldstream Guards, archive section.
But their fees are £33.

There will be nothing available online.

Thank you for your reply.  I shall go down that route when finances are a little easier. Thanks again.

If he was in the Coldstream Guards he would be ranked as a Guardsman, they don't have Privates ;)

Do you know what battalion he was in?

Gosh, a year after the last reply (which I appear to have missed- sincere apologies to Drew5233) and I’m back again.  On my grandparents marriage certificate it says ‘private Coldstream Guards’.  🤔
