Trying to work out if (as on 1939 register), Richard and James are one and the same person?
Problem finding Richard (born circa 1893/4/5) under the name Pinder as he may well have been adopted or fostered by Edward G and Alice Pinder.
Hence the possibility of his surname not being Pinder. Can't find either in a census with the above 'parents'. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Your query is quite vague ;)
What do you actually know about this person - who did he marry and when.

To add to rosie99's reply - if you have his marriage certificate this should give the name and occupation of his father. This would help in tracking/eliminating possible births, and would enable a new search of the 1901 and 1911 censuses (if his father is not Edward G).

Hi, you ask....

Moderator comment: 1939 register details removed, you may only post information from a free search.
BUT, I have found several Richard Pinder names all born in 1893.
Did he go overseas or just stayed in the UK?

Have you checked for the births of the Pinder children?
I can see possibilities using free BMD - with mother's maiden name Pain.
A Richard Pinder married Thanet, Dec Qtr 1915 - on the same page Alice Pain.
-
A James Reginald Pinder was registered Gravesend, Mar Qtr 1897 and there is a death registration for a James R Pinder, Canterbury, Sep Qtr 1951, age 57
Yet to check GRO for maiden name of James Reginald, 1897.
Were Edward and Alice Pinder at Basildon at any time?

Mother's maiden name on the 1897 registration was LLoyd

I'd checked the '39 register. It led to the possible children's births, mother Pain, which, in turn, led to the 1915 marriage of a Richard Pinder to an Alice Pain. That's the trail I'd check out.
James Reginald details included as the only James Reginald around that time frame and locale.

There are 4 Pinder-Lloyd children born in the area
I'm wondering if this is James Reginald/Richard in Gravesend in 1901?

A sibling, Alice b c1893 appears to be in a children's home. A second sister, Daisy Sarah Ann died in 1897 and have not found Edward George b 1892
An ancestry tree has Alice the mother dying in 1908 - there's an Alice Pinder b c1871 who is in and out of the Medway poor law records between 1901 & 1907, with a child Herbert Richard b 1901 (no mmn recorded)
