What have you got about when they married ...or children's names
-
Maybe I am missing something but I can't even see a death record for Gertrude :-\

There's Gertrude Elgey, buried Fleetwood Cemetery, 22 Jan 1974
1 other in grave, not sure that it's an Elgey.
Gertrude's death registered March 1974, Fylde, d-o-b 12 November 1919.
Possible perhaps if Alan + Gertrude weren't actually married.

Was there any thing in the burial record about Canada ?
-
I wonder if Gertrude had been previously married. I can see a Gertrude Brandon of the right age on the 1939 Register

It's on deceased online, as is Alan's burial (11 Nov 1972) / grave details (1 other person).
Might be worth looking him up on there if you can. I haven't seen it myself.
That marriage for Gertrude looks a possibility. But what happened to Frank?

The reason i am looking at Gertrude is because of a mystery in my family line, a relation i now am in contact with after DNA testing is trying to find his biological mother, and she may have been born in about 1944 and giving birth to my relation in the united states in 1962, her mother , if we have the generational line about right puts Alan Eric Longworth and his sibblings in the frame, he may have some kind of a conection with canada perhaps, and of course gertrude seems very hard to find in the records.

There is a death of a Frank Elergy 08/1997 Trafford Greater Manchester - birth 15/06/1915 and in 1939 he was living in Blackpool. Maybe they never divorced??

Gertrude Brandon,born 11th November 1919,
mother Hill,as already mentioned she is in Blackpool in 1939 with her family and unmarried at this point the addition of Elgey being added later.
their is a marriage of Philip Brandon to Lilliam Hill in 1906 Bolton, this is a catholic marriage, 11th August,Phillipum Brandon,to Lillium Hill, grooms father Thomae Brandon, mothers father Jacobi Hill, but if it is the same family you seek,I would think there would be no divorce for Gertrude
