Title: Surname origin/meaning of the surname Tobutt.
Post by: jtobred on Wednesday 30 May 18 20:10 BST (UK)
Hi,
I am interested in the Tobutt surname and it’s origins. In my family tree I have managed to get back to around the mid 1700’s, and it seems most of the Tobutt’s around that time are located around the east/south coast of England. I’m curious to know the origin of the surname, as previous research showed that prior to the 1700’s the surname was only found in eastern prussia. If anyone is familiar with the surname of family tree, I’d love to hear your stories or origins!

Could Tobit be a spin off from Tobutt???    I have Tobit ancestors from the S of England  and 2 females ended up being Talbots!!!

From Talbot?  I believe the origin of Talbot might be Norman originally from Theobald (French Thibault).

There are several possible variations of T*b*t, for example Tebott.

When and where have you first found this surname?
