Was just going to ask where they were married as I could not find a marriage to a James Turner only the one for William Turner...Do you have the death certificate for Helen Taylor Elder other surname Turner 1915 Tibbermore Perthshire on SP to see if the same parents are mentioned

Was her mother Elizabeth listed on the census for 1861..There is always a possibility she was illegitimate  ???..Have you found her in 1871 census ?

I note the 1861 and subsequent census returns. Do you know where Helen was in 1871?

ELDER   ANN   1861   29   1832   Dunning   Perth
ELDER   ANN   1861   1      Dunning   Perth
ELDER   HELEN   1861   7      Dunning   Perth
ELDER   JANET   1861   3      Dunning   Perth
ELDER   DAVID   1861   35   1826   Dunning   Perth

1871 family in Tibbermore David 46 Ann 41 + 5 boys and Ann 11, no Helen.

1881/91/01 David 54/64/75 in Tibbermore + Boys, no Ann senior Ann junior or Helen

DAVID  ELDER 82  death  1909 Perth?
No clear death for Ann?

A bit odd then ??? ..You would think on her marriage certificate she would have  known who her parents were ...unless as I said she was illegitimate and her mother Elizabeth Drummond died

Hi Rosie
Yes I would have though that the marriage record would be right with her sister Ann Elder as a witness, The other though I had was that the 1854 birth date could be a fudge and maybe she was born a bit earlier before the marriage of David and Annie in 1853. So far I have not found a birth record for Helen or any info on Elizabeth Drummond in the Opr's or official records.

We would agree about the marriage being the right one ...wonder where the middle name of Taylor comes from  ???..
