Sitting around last night talking about dead relatives (as one does) and once again we were trying to fill in the blanks in Annie's story.
Annie (middle initial N.?) Milliken born 2 Mar.1885 Ballydevitt, Aghadowey, Co. Londonderry, Ireland
parents James Milliken (d.1914/1919) and Nancy Neill (d.14 Dec.1948)
daughter Margaret born 8 July 1913 and left with Annie's parents to rear
- 19 Aug.1933 "Antonia" arrived Quebec from Belfast, Ireland: Annie Milliken, 46, single, born Aghadowey N.I., previously in Canada March 1914-May 1933, address 33 1/2 Sp_ Ave, Toronto
- 13 Oct.1948 "Nova Scotia" departed Liverpool, England for Halifax: Annie Milliken, age 61, housemaid, res. Canada, c/o Ramsey, Ardreagh, Aghadowey (mother died Dec.1948)
- 9 June 1960 "Carinthia" arrived Liverpool, England from Montreal: Annie Milliken born 2/3/85, parlourmaid, intended duration of stay- 3 months (visit), UK address- Ballydivitt, Aghadowey
Annie died 11 Nov.1969 at Womens College Hospital in Toronto.
I would be interested in any records of her in Toronto and other details of trips back and forth from Canada to Ireland (especially the first time she went to Canada in March 1914?). There was at least one trip, possibly more trips, back to Ireland after 1960. According to various family members in Ireland, she did marry at some point but marriage possibly didn't last long (no ideas of name, date or place).

There is a Canadian passenger list - March 1914 for Annie Millikin but aged 23 years (makes the birth 1891). This one is single and going to Toronto (St Albans Hotel) as a domestic. British Bonus Allowed. Liverpool to St Johns on the Lake Manitoba.
No further info.

Sounds like it could be her, Sandra. Not surprised she might have wanted to seem younger if looking for employment in Canada.

Re: 1933 passenger record -- likely headed to 336 1/2 Spadina Avenue.
Re: 1914 record -- she may have been travelling with a Margaret McGeogher, aged 30, who was also bound to the St. Alban's Hotel and listed right below her and noted as a cook.
The passenger records coming into Canada are only available up til 1935.

Thanks so much for taking the time to check all possible manifests, Sandra and Eileen. The 'Ruby' above is a typo for Ramsey ;D
