Title: Shipwreck 1887 - Barremen
Post by: RipleyAnne on Friday 17 August 18 08:17 BST (UK)
Hi,

I am trying to help a friend find some information on a shipwreck that occurred in mid 1887 off the coast of Cornwall, in which an ancestor of hers, Donald McKinley, was killed. The ship in question was the Barremen or Barreman.

I have found a few vague mentions but nothing, at all, substantial. I was hoping that someone here might be able to assist.

Many thanks.

Welshnewspaperss online

Put "barreman" in Search field - should return 5 results. Apologies if they are simply the "vague mentions" you have already.t

The enquiry was covered by newspapers at the time - available via British Newspaper Archive (BNA - a subscription site) and FindMyPast (FindMyPast). Depending on location you might find free access to FindMyPast at your local library.
