Title: Harrington's of Finchingfield
Post by: campingdave on Monday 27 August 18 21:52 BST (UK)
Looking for any information on the parents of David Harrington born 1774 probably Finchingfield Essex. I believe that they may have been John Harrington and Ann Harrington but have no other details.

Anne was baptised to John and Anne Cowel 19 Nov 1739 Finchingfield. John cowel widow married Anne oweral (difficult to read) 8 Jun 1739!

John Harrington baptised 25 Feb 1739 to Thomas and Martha harrington. Also finchingfield.

Thank you for that valuable information. Both my grandfather (Albert Overal) and great grandfather (Joseph Overall) married Harrington's from Finchingfield. Grandfather married Edith Florence (born Florence Edith) and great grandfather married Eliza Harrington. Edith's father was David Harrington born 1845 and Eliza's father was John Harrington born 1820 who was also David's father !. John Harrington's father was David Harrington born 1774. That was as far as I got with the Harrington line hence the original post.

If you are able to progress any further with Thomas and Martha it would be greatly appreciated.

Once again many thanks for your help  :).

Regards

David Overal

I think I'd need to write that down to get my head round that! Yes, will look into Thomas and Martha.

Thomas harrington married Martha turner 13 June 1737 finchingfield. Both single and of the Parish.

Martha of Martin and Martha turner 22 June 1715. Martin (widower) married Martha Nash (single woman) 9 Feb 1714. Both of Parish. Married by banns.
Martha Nash 21 Feb 1700 of Joseph and Margaret Nash Jun. (No other Martha Nash in finchingfield being baptised. This may not be her, but it wouldn’t have been impossible for her to marry at this age? )

Thomas harrington of John and Mary harrington 21 April 1715.

All of these in finchingfield.

Once again many thanks for the information  :). It is greatly appreciated. I have in the past subscribed to the Essex Parish Registers but tended to concentrate on my fathers line (Overall). I got as far back as John Overall married to Mary Hales 4 August 1739 Finchingfield, but no further back.

regards

If the Martha Nash baptised 1700, is the one who married Martin turner, then her parents, Joseph and Margaret, were married in great bardfield (next village down) 5/10/1691. Margaret’s maiden name: harrington!

Martin turner was baptised 8/10/1676 to Anthony turner and Francis nee Norris. They married 24/1/1670. All these in great bardfield. Records only go back to 1660 ☹️

Just thought I'd mention that there were Harringtons in Sible Hedingham early 1600s to early 1700s, and probably earlier and late than those years, those dates are from my research of my three Sible Hedingham Harrington families, the earliest of the three Sible Hedingham families is only a probable at the moment.

Only mentioned the above in case you need somewhere else to check, although I realise you might already be aware of Harringtons at S H.

Regards.
