It is surprising how much stuff you can find on the internet. I'm not researching Kent at the mo, although I do have families from Kent in my tree. But I've found it very useful to google names of people and towns/villages, and all sorts of wonderful things come up. There are some great websites out there which people have lovingly constructed which contain family trees, parish records, histories of villages and towns.... all incredibly useful. Also it's worth having a look at Family Search although their submitted records need to be taken with more than a pinch of salt; but there is a lot of good stuff on there.
And of course, you can always ask on here, because there are lots of very clever researchers on RC who are only too happy to help.

Maybe you need to check the archives as I have yet to find one that doesn't hold thousands of documents/information relating to pre 1800's.
If you would like help please provide further information about your ancestors. ie Names, dates, locations, church records you have checked, parents names etc.
-
If you put some names and dates etc on rootschat we could help you as well.

Morning all, well the line starts with my great grandfather William Alfred George Ludlow b 1910 d 1998 from Swanscombe/Darenth, but starts to get 'wooly' after my 5x Grt Grandad John Ludlow b 1786 in Darenth (Married Francis Bevan) and back before the mid 1700s.
I have checked the parish records of St Margaret of Antioch (Swanscombe) and another couple of dartford churchs..
I did look at the local archives and will be popping there.

I think you need to be more specific in what you're researching (what you're trying to find out/achieve)?
People have asked for info. in order to try & help but so far we have 2 names, 1 yob & 1 place name tied to your ancestors with no info. as to what you're actually looking for?
Do you have the marriage of John Ludlow & Francis Bevan or are you looking for it & what other info. are you looking for?
There are people on here with access to many records others don't have access to (not necessarily related to your post) but without knowing what you're looking for they won't be able to look ???
Very much lacking in info!

Lol Annie ... how rude your message sounds!!!
I am not purposefully lacking the information. I am giving what I have and if anyone asks for specific information I am happy to provide more if I have it. What I have been asking if where people think I should look next.

I wasn't being rude in any way but emphasising without knowing specifically what/where/when you're researching, people won't be able to help/direct you to where to look?
You have your couple married with no place/date, you don't give details of their children when/where born which would seem a likely place to begin looking for their marriage if it's the marriage you're trying to find as you haven't stated anything in particular?

That's my issue.. haha... I don't know where or when they were married other than the information provided, and also don't have any children for them either. All I know is that and they were in Darenth..but I know have a place to start searching thanks to a member emailing me a link.. so I may well have the information soon.

Hi
John Ludlow married Frances Bevan on 14th October 1809 in Wilmington.
This could be her father?
As they appear to have been in Green Street Green you might also like to try Longfield registers.

FindMyPast shows their children were all baptised in Darenth:
Annis bp.21/10/1810
William bp.31/10/1813
Charlotte bp.7/1/1816
Richard bp.2/8/1818
George bp.28/10/1821
Emma bp.15/1/1826
John bp.30/3/1828
Thomas bp.14/3/1830
Jane bp.16/9/1832
As you say, John Ludlow was born 1786 Darenth, his baptism easily found there, together with siblings, parents being George and Mary:
George bp.16/8/1778
Thomas bp.23/1/1780
Henry bp.3/2/1782
William bp.11/4/1784
John bp.24/9/1786
Richard bp.21/12/1788
Elizabeth bp.30/1/1791
Mary bp.14/7/1793
George Ludlow married Mary Hackney 8/12/1777 Darenth.
Not sure why you were referring to other parishes at the outset - from census John and Frances were living in Darenth and both born there so clearly Darenth was the parish you needed to search first.

Thanks Annette.. through my line they change being listed between:
Green street green
Dartford
Swanscombe and finally
Darenth.
I managed to find all the references today too and they match what you put above.. I printed the record and was sad to see the baptisms and then burials all listed so closely.
Now I am on to their parents...

Thanks spent all day on there and got them all... sadly some records are damaged from flooding so not sure I will be able to read or understand any further in the line

Ok so next gap...
Henry Ludlow b 1723 d 1798 (parents thomas Ludlow and Joan/Jane hockley)
Married susanna ????

-
Ironically I found a lot for the early 1700s and founds loads for Thomas and Joan (hockley) and their kids... confirmed on parish records and familysearch..
On the familysearch I found something else which needs to be confirmed...
John Ludlow 1638-1710
Married abt 1670
Jone vidgeon 1640-1730
Children
George 1672-1742
Mary 1675-
William 1675-1680
William 1681-1681
Thomas 1682-1746
Arghh this names are all confusing me so going to go put it all in order now lol

Glad to see things have taken a good leap forward with help from some good RCers.
