Good afternoon and thank you for any help that can be given.
I have located my 4x great grandfather (Thomas Evans) in the 1841 census (attached) but noticed that his wife (Catherine) would only have been 12 when my 3x great grandfather (Hugh Evans) was born. Because of this, I thought that maybe she was actually an older sister, but looking at the 1851 census (also attached) confirms that she was indeed Thomas's wife.
I am assuming that in the 1841 census both Thomas jnr and Hugh are from a previous marriage and that Elizabeth could be from the same previous marriage or from the new one to Catherine.
Just to muddy things a little further Thomas snr and Catherine have a son also called Thomas in the 1851 census.
Any help working out the following would be greatly appreciated:
When / where did Thomas snr and Catherine get married?
Who is the mother of Thomas jnr, Hugh and Elizabeth?
Edit 1: I have attached a long shot at the marriage between Thomas and Catherine which would make Elizabeth their daughter and not wife no. 1.
Edit 2: I am wondering whether it is Elizabeth as wife no.1? I have a Thomas baptised 26 March 1820 to Thomas Evans and Elizabeth in Corwen. Also Hugh, baptised 30 June 1822 to Thomas Evans and Elizabeth in Corwen. There is an Elizabeth born to Thomas Evans and "Ivans" (transcript error?) baptised 02 May 1830 in Corwen.

The banns that you are showing were 1829 - Catherine was of Llanelidan, have you looked there for the marriage

Hi Rosie,
As suggested, I have found the marriage between Thomas and Catherine in Llanelidan (I must remember to extend my searches to include Denbighshire as well as Merionethshire!). The parish marriage shows that Thomas was a widower seeming to confirm that his first wife (Jane, from your research) had died.
Jane could be either be the one that was buried in Gwyddelwern on 09 june 1828 (Residence Llygadog) or the one buried 20 June 1827 (Residence Carwen)?
I have also found evidence of all the baptisms that you mentioned, however, I cannot find anything for Hugh, Elizabeth or Thomas jnr (1850ish).
Any further help would is greatly appreciated.
