Title: Victoria Pl, Taunton
Post by: Twdyr on Monday 29 April 19 15:50 BST (UK)
I'm trying to find if Victoria Pl (Place?) in the 1871 Census, still exists. From the enumerator's book it appears close to the High St, parish of St Mary Magdalene.
Does anyone with local knowledge know if this road/street still exists.
Thanks for reading this.

You can see Victoria Place marked on this Town Plan https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/322601/124255/13/100309 change the zoom as necessary.

This map shows the area and the present view https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=18&lat=51.0128&lon=-3.1052&layers=168&right=BingHyb

Stan and Carol, many thanks for your time and helpful reply. As I suspected it no longer exists but the local archive may have some old photos. Ironic to think that my GGF lived there in 1871, just yards away from the prison that held his GF, 34 years earlier, before transportation.
It's amazing what we find out !
