I am trying to find my Great Grandmothers family.
Her name Ann Harper, married Henry Cooper, in the 1871 census they lived at 53 Temple Street, West Bromwich. Her age was 37. In an earlier index their address was Aston Juxta Birmington, Warwick. Henry and Ann were married in 1859.
They had three children , Elizabeth ch in 1861. Mary Ann ch 1862. And George ch 1864.
The family travelled to New Zealand on the 1st July 1876, leaving from Glasgow on the City of Dunedin. They then travelled to Orepuki, Southland, New Zealand where Ann died in 1900.
I cannot find anything as yet about Elizabeth or Mary Ann. The son George was my Grandfather. I would like to find more about the Harper family.

Are you looking for Elizabeth and Mary Ann in New Zealand or Ann in England?
-
I am trying to find out about Ann Harper who married Henry Cooper on 26th December 1859, in Aston Juxta Birmington, Warwick.
Also their two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary Ann Cooper. They travelled to New Zealand but at the moment I cannot find anything about them.

From the marriage
Anne’s father was Humphrey Harper. And one of the witnesses was a Maria Harper
Ann was 26 so born about 1833
However, she may have lied about her age...
As an Ann Harper dau of Humphrey and Elizabeth was baptised at Meriden 22 May 1825 (although it is always possible this one died, and a subsequent daughter was given the same name)

Thank you very much, the date of 1833 would be right. In the 1871 census they were living at 53 Temple Street, West Bromwich.
How do I go about finding out about Humphrey and the family. I live in Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand and it seems a shame that Ann Cooper (Harper) seems to have no one but ourselves. We have the Coopers here but no Harpers.

Quite few other baptisms to them in Meriden on Familysearch I will leave you to track.
Tree on Ancestry has marriage cert for Jane (daughter of Humphrey) 1851 and Ann Harper is a witness

I think you'll find that Ann was much older than she admitted to. You don't say that the 1861 and 1871 census state she was born in Meriden, Warwickshire.
In 1871 she is 37 (bc.1834), in 1861 she is 30 (bc.1831) and I believe she was a servant in Edgbaston in 1851 aged 25!
There was only one Humphrey Harper in Meriden having children baptised at the relevant period and this baptism for Ann - and age given in 1851 - would tie in with this:
Ann Harper bp.22/5/1825 Meriden, Warwickshire, dau. of Humphrey and Elizabeth - siblings all baptised at Meriden:
Susanna bp.13/9/1814
Elizabeth bp.18/2/1816
Thomas bp.23/5/1819
Mary bp.9/11/1823
Jane bp.29/7/1828
Richard bp.7/8/1831
Maria bp.8/3/1835
Humphrey Harper married Elizabeth Horton 22/11/1813 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Census shows Humphrey was bc.1784 Meriden and his wife Elizabeth bc.1793 Birmingham.
Humphrey Harper bp.12/1/1785 Meriden, son of Humphrey and Jane.

Henry Cooper was perversely younger than he admitted to.
He was the son of Robert Cooper and Elizabeth Oakley married 8/11/1830 Aston Juxta, Birmingham and his birth reg'd Sept.qtr.1839 West Bromwich (mmn mistranscribed by GRO as Cacley?? but next sibling's birth correctly shows mmn as Oakley) and he was baptised 13/10/1839 West Bromwich, son of Robert and Elizabeth.

Good morning ..I am intregued by your request to seek details of Ann Harper from West Bromwich .
I too have discovered that my 4x Gt Grandmother was also called Ann Harper born West Bromwich around 1820 .. What I cannot find out is her DOB her parents and WHY she traveled to Shrewsbury and met my 4X Gt Grandfather Edward Harris . They were married in WEM Shropshire.
Then as the years past the Harris Son's migrated from Shrewsbury toward Shropshire then into Wolverhampton, finally back to West Bromwich .
I can only summise that perhaps Ann was employed as a servant . But cannot find evidence.

Welcome to Rootschat, Looby lou Rushin - can you give us some dates of events, census you've found her on as I can't find this Ann Harris bc.1820 West Bromwich on census, nor can I find a marriage between an Ann Harper and an Edward Harris.
