Title: Place of Residence on Marriage Certificate
Post by: Marcello on Tuesday 18 June 19 21:19 BST (UK)
Can anybody help with identifying the place of residence of the groom given on this marriage certificate? The marriage took place in Mohill in 1863. If not in Leitrim, could it possibly be in Co. Cavan?

Thanks

That's quite hard to see
If it's a townland you can try here https://thecore.com/seanruad/
I tried eigh and picked 'At the end of field
You can also look at https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php?gregdistid=117 Mohill district, clicking on each Civil Parish brings up a list of towns and townlands

You could also post a link to the cert so we can see it better

Mohill Parish doesn't go in to Cavan, it goes into Longford.

Thanks for the replies. Sinann, I used your link to 'The Core' and used the 'ends in' facility. There was nothing remotely like it in Leitrim, but I did come up with 'Knockacareigh'. What do you think? I wasn't sure what the first letter was, possibly a 'K' with a 'ck' in the middle. The groom, whom I thought might have originally come from Co. Cavan (hence the Cavan mention, Hallmark) could well have been living in Knockacareigh, PLU of Macroom, Cork W.R. at the time of marriage. The image is not available online, but I've attached an picture.

Thanks again.

Hallmark, I hadn't seen your last comment when I closed the topic. Some managed to escape to Westmeath! (Should be 'Coote' and not 'Coole' in transcription)

Thanks very much for all the links, Dathai. I have been checking out the Mohill/Leitrim records and am just starting now on the Cavan ones so they will be a great help.
