Hi folks,
Have just been researching some Mitchell children (orphans) from Aberdeenshire who were sent to Quarriers. a mention was made of the above name Wm. Mitchell, Clothier from Kirkintilloch. Was wondering the best way to trace this family. the date was 1892 ish. Thanks for reading.

Hi there :)
Is there any other post on the children here on RC that we could read for any additonal notes and comments on the children?
On what type of document was the William Mitchell you mention referred to?

There is a marriage in 1889 in Kirkintilloch for a William Mitchell and an Agnes Dick which is a possible entry.
From the 1901 census, William and Agnes had a daughter Margaret H Mitchell born c. 1892. SP show a likely entry for her birth as Margaret Hannah Mitchell.
An Agnes Dick was born to a William Dick and Margaret Hannah in Dalmellington Ayrshire in 1866 www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYPZ-QHX

The cousin who came with John Mitchell junior when he brought his siblings to Quarriers - possibly William Mitchell, the youngest son of William Mitchell (John Mitchell senior's brother) and Jane/Jean Watson - and brother to Margaret Mitchell, the wife of John Mitchell junior.
He was also a tailor - he married Agnes Dick from Dalmellington, Ayrshire in 1889 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire - the family are living there in the 1891 census. By 1901, they are in Govan.
