Don't know I'm afraid but I am not sure this is a military abbreviation in this case. He is listed as a civil overseas death. Any idea who he worked for?

He was an engineer according to the 1841 census, and a mechanical engineer according to the 1851 census.

The address on the 1841 census is "Cottage, Laxey Mine" - and there were some 400 Cornishmen employed in the Laxey Mines by 1848.
My guess would be that he was a Mines Engineer?

Why was he buried in Chester? Was he from there originally. The only SRN I can think of is State Registered Nurse. Not likely if he was an engineer. What do his initials T. C. stand for?
