I am looking for any info on James William Symonds;
birth date, 1876-09-17 (from the 1939 register)
a location, occupation from the 1939 register;
67 Anchor St, Norwich, Steel works labourer
He married Gertrude Annie Graves in 1951 (when her surname was
"Berryman", after her first husband.
and a FreeBMD death; 1956 Norwich
Whilst searching, I did find a "false twin";
James William Symonds, born 18 Dec 1869, Little Melton,
who married Eliza Ann Bullock in 1894. He also shows
in the 1939 register, so I'm certain he's not "my" guy.
I am pretty sure he was around in Norwich as early as 1912,
since two of the Berryman children are named
1912: Evelyn Ethel Laura Symonds Berryman
1917: Alice L Symonds
(yes, they obvious had a complex life...)
Anything anyone can add on J W S would be very helpful.

So I checked on James W Hales, no mmn and against this but it shows occasional copy A
I have no idea what this means
Might not be anything to do with you but it seems strange

Baptism transcript :
James William Hales baptised 18 Jul 1875 Norwich , Norfolk
Father : Russell Hales
Mother Leah Hales
Russell may be fictitious ?
Edit : I found an image which seems to be for the same baptism but doesn't mention any father ,
It specifies private baptism and bastard ( excuse the 19th century language ). There is also a death record in 1875 for a James William Hales , aged 0 , in Norwich. So caution is required. ???

"Interesting" is an understatement. I think james-of-leah looks like my guy. So that means the other records relate too, as the jigaw pieces tumble nicely into place.
My greatful thanks to all.

James Symonds Snr was a Shoemaker & George Berryman was a boot machinist. Could be he worked for James. Hence including Symonds in his offsprings names.
-
Well hidden in the 1881 Census ... ;D
RG11/1942/ 74 p19
The surname is "Simons" and wife "Leah Margaret" is going by "Margaret" (which she also does later on).

Not sure if this helps or not someone had asked the question
New GRO indexes: what is an 'occasional copy'? - see link below for the full question/answer
https://genealogy-specialists.com/threads/occasional-copy-a.8646/
Here’s a snippet
Where original registration has been amended in some way, requiring an “occasional copy” to be sent to the Registrar General
(ie to supersede the original Quarterly Certified Copy).
This is also on FreeBMD when you click on D27
This entry appears to be a late entry referring to the following
Dec 1927 Symonds James W mmn Hales Norwich 4b 136
The above transcription represents what is in the GRO index but it is referred to by the following entry
Births 1876 Dec: Symonds James W Norwich ,?, see D27 which implies that this is a late entry, that is an entry that has been registered in a quarter later than the event
