Hello all....
Well as we are all stuck at home I've gone off on a tangent with one of my lines.
I am trying to piece together the family of my maternal grandfathers half sisters and from their various marriages backwards.
I have John Tavaner who marries MASCILLA READ 11th December 1799 in Harlington.
A very unusual name.....but.....where does she come from? Any ideas or other spellings anyone can come up with would be a great help.
Thanks for reading.

Marsella Read, daughter of Michael Read and Mary Heley, baptized at Hockliffe 20th Sep 1778. Her sister Mary Ann, who married William Rudd at Cardington, was my ancestor. Another sister, Rebecca, married Edward Read, fortuitously preserving her surname, and left a will tying bits of the family together, otherwise I'd never have traced Mary Ann Read.
Marsella is more properly spelled Marcella, named after Michael Read's grandmother.

Hello Steven.
It's a really unusual name for rural Bedfordshire at least. Thank you so much for that.
The line I'm following is from my grandad two half sisters who were Simpsons. They married two Lathwell brothers in a double wedding in 1947.
Only been looking today and picked a line I haven't looked at as not a direct line but it has been a very interesting little journey so far. I'll have another look tomorrow and see where I go .
Have a lovely evening and stay safe......New half cousin :)
