Hello Everyone
I’m struggling to find any info on my Great Grandparents marriage. Gladys May Gwilt 1909-1968 born in Newtown. Her husband was David Davies born around 1909 and that’s all I know of him. My Taid (Their son) said they split up but never divorced as David was strict Christian and went abroad at some point.
If anyone could help that would be fantastic!

My Taid always said his dad was David Davies. I know after they split Gladys was with a man named David Jones as they are on the 1939 census

So your father possibly didn’t know the correct name of his father and referred to David who lived with Gladys after separation.

St Llwchaiarn, Llanmerewig Isn’t too far from Newtown which is where she was born and lived

Your father’s birth cert would have his father’s name on it.

On his marriage cert it says David Davies and on his mother’s Death certificate. No mother or father on my Taid’s birth as I think it’s the short version

According to what I have found out so far on Gladys family she had a brother Charles Gwilt who married a Florence Pugh

There are several trees on Ancestry. Some have her marrying David Davies and some Charles, but all have her parents as Charles Gwilt and Beatrice Hughes.
One has her husband as Charles David Davies and a photograph of Gladys.
It also has photographs of her children.
