There is this family in 1901 - father Robert :-\
They are in Corkeeran townland - do you think that Geraldine’s residence could be Corkeeran?

-
Just in case this is the family - Robert Goodfellow married Anna Lucas

Did she have a brother Samuel living in Glasgow.
There is an 1895 marriage, same place as Geraldine.
Samuel to Sarah Williamson. His residence is down as Glasgow, a worker in chemical works, father Robert a farmer.

Her Scottish death certificate should have her folk’s names:

WHITE GERALDINE 70 1948 479/ 580 Falkirk

Father Robert dies 1903 - informant Thomas Lucas
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1903/05669/4596711.pdf
I can’t see any of the family or Thomas Lucas in 1911
There is a daughter Mary Jane b 1880 (a previous one dies). She is likely to be ‘Jaine’ in 1901.
I wonder did all the family go to Scotland?
What is the year of birth for Geraldine in 1911?

Younger sibling William born in 1884 at Cumry townland. MMN Lucas

Pity there was not a 1911 one for Scotland
There is one, but she isn’t on it under GOODFELLOW, or WHITE.

-
Jamjar,
I have never seen a 1911 Census .Is it for all of Scotland or just parts .
-
Does Thomas show on the Scottish 1911 census?
If not, do you or the family know what happened to him?

Don't think this has been posted yet but a search on Scotland's people for 'Geraldine Goodfellow' brings up only 1 result-
GOODFELLOW GERALDINE, age 70, 1948 Falkirk dist. 479/ 580
Searching deaths for 'Geraldine White' brings up same record-
WHITE GERALDINE, age 70, 1948 Falkirk dist. 479/ 580
but also this-
WHITE GERALDINE GOODF, age 74, mother- MILLER, 2003 Falkirk dist. 479/ 656
then under births-
WHITE GERALDINE G, 1929 Falkirk dist. 479/ 668
and marriages-
WHITE GERALDINE G to MARTIN, JAMES 1951 Falkirk dist. 479/ 197

Possible sister for Geraldine? (at least 1 online tree has mother as Isabella Monaghan)-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1878/02975/2089836.pdf
Marriage of widower Thomas Goodfellow & Isabella Monaghan (1876)-

Possible previous marriage for Thomas Goodfellow-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1855/09486/5437837.pdf
Possible death for Thomas (1906, age 80)- informant daughter Maggie Armstrong-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1906/05561/4560893.pdf
Margaret Goodfellow, age 22, m.(1902) William Armstrong-

Still very puzzling since Thomas Goodfellow's wife is called Elizabeth in 1901 and Thomas is only 60 years old-
http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cavan/Killeshandra/Creenagh_Glebe/1064083/
Yet death for Isabella Goodfellow has son-in-law William Armstrong as informant-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1912/05350/4490334.pdf
and Isabella Goodfellow with Armstrong family in 1911-

Good finds re the Scottish records.
Although the writing is so poor, the father’s name looks more like Robert than Thomas :-\
I have tried reading the female witness name to see if that helps to identify a 1901 entry but no.
According to the death record, Geraldine would be born abt 1878.
There is:
Mary Jane Goodfellow b 1878 with parents Robert and Margaret Goodfellow (Lucas)
Mary Jane Goodfellow b 1880 with parents Robert and Annie (Lucas)
I can’t see a death 1878-1880.
Is the first just a mistake re mother’s first name?
-
Family tree I found says Geraldine was Maggie's half-sister.
Falkirk Herald, 24 Dec.1949: WHITE. —In loving memory of our dear mother Geraldine Goodfellow, who died 21st December, 1948. We lost a mother with a heart of gold; The loss to us can never told; Forget her...
Same paper, following day: WHITE. At Falkirk Royal Infirmary, on 21st December, 1948, Geraldine Goodfellow White.
Scottish death certificate should list parents so might be next step. I've checked births for Ireland under Goodfellow (no first name), Geraldine (no surname), etc. without finding anything. Wonder if she was 'adopted' thus registered under another name :-\
-
Thank you Aghadowey , I will have to look at the Death Certificate then .
-
Let us know when you get the details as it might help us find further details.
Just in case you haven't used Scotland's People before- you need to register then purchase a few credits to view the death certificate.

The witness to the marriage was Ellen Thompson, William White’s sister according to the tree owner.

This might be the marriage of Ellen White-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1892/10631/5873324.pdf
Wonder if it was the local custom to make the registers as illegible as possible ::)
Added- James & Ellen Thompson in 1901-

Well does this tie in somehow with Geraldine (Goodfellow) White seeming to end up in Falkirk :o
Goodwin Lucas Goodfellow
Deceased Forename Annie
Primary Beneficiary/Executor Thomas Goodfellow
Date of Death 15 Nov 1903
County of Death Camelon Falkirk

I was just looking at
Thomas Goodfellow 23yrs Moulder b Ireland boarding in Falkirk 1901
So that is perhaps Robert and Annie’s son?
-
Thomas’ birth
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1877/03021/2107047.pdf
I wonder if Geraldine is Jaine from 1901?
-
Mmm...
1901 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Monaghan/Rockwallace/Aghalaverty/1635178/
Jeraline Goodwin 20 yrs
-
Tammie- have you looked at that 1948 death certificate yet? would be interesting to know names of parents & who the informant was so we can see which direction to keep searching.
-
Thank you Heywood , I had seen Annie's Will and checked to see if there was Geraldine Goodwin but there was not .She is not Jaine I found a Marriage for her . I must get her Death Cert .Thanks again
-
Do you mean you've seen Annie's actual Will or just the extract from Will book?
-
The Annie Goodfellow that died in 1903 Falkirk was aged 48 so born c1855.
-
I like the looks of that one, heywood-
Mmm...

Aghadowey
In the 1901 Census says Annie was B 1853 ,says she is 48 .have not seen actual will .
Thank you
-
Wouldn't worry about a few years difference in age. The Will extract only lists person granted probate or administration not who was mentioned in Will or was entitled by law to inherit (in the case of administration).
What about the death certificate?
-
Hopefully the death details will explain the mystery.
As I wrote earlier, there are two Mary Jane births to Robert and Annie/Margaret but I can’t see a death :-\
-
Something to keep in mind-
Death: GOODFELLOW THOMAS, 1911, age 30, 479/ 25/ 11 Falkirk
1911 census- Falkirk (looks to be same household)
GOODFELLOW THOMAS 1911 M 30 479/ 25/ 11 Falkirk Stirling
GOODFELLOW ROBINA 1911 F 28 479/ 25/ 11
GOODFELLOW MARJORIE 1911 F 3 479/ 25/ 11
GOODFELLOW ROBERT 1911 M 1 479/ 25/ 11
And in another household perhaps nearby-
GOODFELLOW JOHN 1911 M 27 479/ 25/ 17 Falkirk
-
Not sure if this was posted earlier or just alluded to but for reference birth of Thomas White in 1903-

Got tired of waiting for death certificate details and had a few credits- confirms Geraldine's parents Robert Goodfellow (a farmer) & Anne Lucas both deceased (informant was son Thomas White).
-
Thanks really kind of you aghadowey and glad to see we had the right family.
-
Aghadowey,
Geraldines's Parents were as we thought ,
Robert Goodfellow. & Anne Lucas
-
Aghadowey,
Geraldines's Parents were as we thought ,
Robert Goodfellow. & Anne Lucas
Yes, I said that last night after I used some credits to view the certificate.
-
Thankyou for that Aghadowey ,sorry but I had gone to bed by then .
Just like today Thank you to all of you for your Help
-
But it looks like you had time last night to alter family tree to add Thomas Goodfellow as Geraldine's father and change Maggie from her half-sister to sister ???
At 3 pm (UK time) yesterday Jamjar said (reply #5)-
Her Scottish death certificate should have her folk’s names:
At 3:23 pm you said (reply #8)-
We need to see her Death Certificate .She is not on the 1901 Census .Pity there was not a 1911 one for Scotland .
Numerous times after that we said the death certificate needed to confirm parents of Geraldine. So, not sure why you didn't look at the certificate in the afternoon as it would have saved us, and you, lots of needless searching.
-
Hi tammiegirl,
Glad that this is sorted for you. I suspect that Geraldine is one of the two Mary Janes - going off the age, perhaps the oldest one
Thank you Heywood , I had seen Annie's Will and checked to see if there was Geraldine Goodwin but there was not .She is not Jaine I found a Marriage for her . I must get her Death Cert .Thanks again
Who did Jaine marry?
I don’t know if that is your published tree- I see it has been altered but there still seems to be links to the Cavan family and mention of half sisters/brothers which would not be correct :-\
Unless that is because the owner thinks that Geraldine is the child of only one of the couple Robert G or Ann L ???
I don’t know much about publishing a tree so it might be that this can’t be altered perhaps.
-
Heywood ,
I have just looked at the Baptism records ,Mary Jane 10 Sept 1878 says Mother Margaret Lucas Goodfellow .so I have took her of my Tree and I am sure I found Mary Jane Married someone .But I have found what I came on here for .Sorry if I caused you some work but I knew the Great Granddaughter of Thomas had Geraldine's Death Cert and was waiting for her to come back to me . Thanks again
-
That’s fine.
I think that is an error re Margaret - I don’t think she pops up anywhere else.
It is a birth record though not a baptism.
