Hello I am looking for any info. but especially the parents of John Richard Champion who was born about 1796 in Reading . He married Mary webb.
-
Your heading says Joshua Champion, your post John Richard Champion. :-\
Presumably JRC who died 9 January 1875 - probate index shows an entry for him. Familysearch has some census details (free to search). What other information are you after so we don't spend time looking for what you already have
-
Sorry about misleading names. I am actually trying to ascertain whether Joshua Champion is the father of John Richard Champion. I have quite a lot of info. for John Richard, who was born about 1796, but there is one born about 10 years earlier with Joshua listed as father and since John named a son Joshua , I feel that maybe John,s birth date is wrong,or maybe put his age down for some reason.
Thankyou for your reply ab

Where and when was 'your' John Richard baptised, who do you have as his parents

The probate calendar entry
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=champion&yearOfDeath=1875&page=3#calendar
Is he then John Champion the Miller born Aldermaston/Reading/Mortimer?
There is a new Berkshire Wills Index
https://www.berkshirerecordoffice.org.uk/wills-index?full_name=champion
One entry looks quite interesting
John Champion, Aldermaston, Baker, 1805
On TNA website
IR 26 - Registers of Legacy Duty, Succession Duty and Estate Duty
Abstract of Will of John Champion, Baker of Aldonnaston, Berkshire. Proved in the Court of Berkshire.
Here
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7201088
We can preview it with their image viewer, watermarked images.
Does it say that one of the residual legatees is son Jno Richard Champion? :-\
If you register you can download the whole thing for free at the moment. Minus the "watermarks"
No idea if this is going to turn out to be who you are looking for, but may be something to investigate.

Some PCC wills of Berkshire Champions as well.
One is
Will of Joshua Champion, Baker, of Sulhampstead Bannister , Berkshire
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D236757
It will also be on ancestry.
Exciting!

It certainly looks as though 'Jno' could be hiding under the watermark. :)
-
I think so too, Rosie!
The only thing is that "our" one is still going to be a child then, so more research would be needed, or getting hold of the full will from Berkshire.
Re Joshua will
It looks as though that Joshua was buried at Sulhamstead Abbots in 1816, age 80.
So is rather unlikely to be the father of John Richard, but he might be a grandfather, you never know. But I have no idea, it is a long will (I don't fancy wading through it!)
Don't forget that you can also download it for free from TNA. It's worth doing because they seem to greyscale those PCC wills images, which sometimes helps with legibility as compared to ancestry.

Thanks to all for replies, much appreciated. I downloaded the wills and did much deciphering and cross checking ,but did,t find any reference or clues to John Richard Champion. I have his marriage to Mary Webb in 1819 and his death 24 Jan 1875 ,but cannot find birth or parents names, just a birth date from age given in a number of census,s. so maybe it was,nt registered .

What did this piece that we could not see actually say. It did look from the image that something had been added in front of Richard Champion
-
It says Jno.
This is a look up thread, so I cannot attach a screenshot.
