Title: Marriage look up for John Parkin and Ann Smith - Kirkburton
Post by: prysowenr on Friday 04 September 20 15:23 BST (UK)
Can someone please look up the parish record for John Parkin and Ann Smith who were married on 19th May 1740 at Kirkburton. This date is from Find my Past who also has a record of a Benjamin Parkin born to a John Parkin on 23rd May 1740 at Kirkburton and was unfortunately buried the next day.
I was wondering if the marriage was 1739 and not 1740

The image available on Ancestry clearly states 1740 as the year, 19 May and both of this parish.

Added:  the baptism entry for Benjamin, is in fact the very next entry in the register - Benjamin, son of the aforesaid John Parkin of Kirkburton baptised the 23rd and buried the 24th day.

Amended:  the baptism entry is actually the next-but-one entry to the marriage.

Yes, not very pleasant at all - hopefully they went on to have other children who survived.

PARISH REGISTERS -About 1739/40 used the thingy bob calendar that used to start and finish each year in about late March as to the year.

Jan to March could get a bit confusing in some registers but not usually in May
