Hi All
I have a slight problem in tracing a family member
My Grandparents William Henry Smith and Margaret Dennis were married in Derby 1907
I am trying to clarify if they had a child George Smith DoB 1908 in Derby
If so any information on his death would be most welcome
The name has popped up from a cousin but nothing more than the name and date
Kind Regards
Broadway

Have you checked the GRO index which lists mothers maiden surnames for c1907
ADDED
Have you checked the 1911 for number of children born to the marriage
-
thank you for the reply no I have not as when I look on family search or BMD it does not find anything
-
Did they have other children
-
yes after George ??
Reginald 1909 DoB Derby
Frank 1911
Frank DoB Nottingham
-
I am not sure whether this George existed bu it came from a cousin in Australia who saw it in a family Bible
I may have to pay to an ancestry website but Roots has always been so helpful and informative I thought I would try here first

There is no birth for a Smith mmn Dennis called George in Derby on the GRO.
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
Reginald is actually Reginald William and Frank is Frank George.
-
Reginald William is with the Smith family - grandmother and aunts/uncles in 1911.
William and Margaret are visiting elsewhere, only one child claimed.

Thank you all for the information I am double checking with my cousin in Australia to see if we can clarify this George Smith 1908
The Dennis side were catholics and I am wondering if this was a bible that was Margaret Dennis given to her when she got married in 1907
The Children from this Marraige were
George 1908 ???
Reginald 1909
Frank 1911
William 1913 ??
Margaret 1915
Alfred 1917
Arthur 1920
Albert 1923
Anthony 1925
Elsie 1927
Eric 1930
This George could have died early in the marriage as it was her first child ?? just guessing
I will contact cousin to check the information
Kind regards
