WILLIAM SMITH, born 5 Oct 1719 Hertfordshire. Can anyone tell me whereabouts in Herts please?
He married Alice Sage on 6 July 1741 at St.Mary's Church, Hemel Hempstead.
I'm also trying to find his death, and anything at all about his parents. His father may have been
William Smith, and was his mother Mary Wrallings? I cannot find either of their births, or marriage
and deaths. I'd be very grateful for any help with this. Thank you.

How do you know his exact date of birth?
-
Oh!! I'm even more confused now!! :o
I can't remember where I got the October birthdate from now! Could have been on Ancestry.
Thank you for your replies. :)

If it was a record on Ancestry, didn't it give more than a county?

I'd looked on Public Member Trees. There are a few that have him in their
tree but they all only say Hertfordshire. One says he was baptised 18 Oct
1719 at St.James in Westminster, London.

I've found William and Mary's marriage, 27 July 1725 at St.Giles Church, South Mimms. If they are
his parents, he must have been 6 years old before they married? I know it's possible, but it can't be
right can it? ???

I wouldn't take all you see on a Member's tree as correct. If he was baptised in Westminster why do you think he was born in Herts?
HALS listed William and Alice's marriage licence, but they charge over £10 for a copy of the document, but it could give you more information.
There is a William baptised in Hemel on 25 Sep 1718 coincidentally s/o William and Mary.
There is a grocer called William Smith in Hemel taking on apprentices in the right period to be your William.
I doubt if that marriage is right.
Burial of a William Smith 23 Mar 1787 age 68 . The William bapt Sep 1718 (if born early sept ) would be 68 in Sept 1786, but not 69 until Sept 1787, i.e. after the March burial date, so that would fit

A William Smith married a Mary Thorn at Hemel on 11 May 1718 - possibility
-
William snr may be the one buried 19 Mar 1772 at Hemel. Year of birth approx 1695

Thanks for your replies LizzieL.
I'm more confused than ever now. His name had to be William Smith didn't it!! I've got lots of William
Smiths all the way through my tree, it's so annoying.
