Title: Thomas and Flora Standen, 1939 Register
Post by: MacGrigor on Saturday 07 November 20 15:11 GMT (UK)
Hello,

I haven’t been able to find the pair in 1939. They lived in the Barnet area I understand, and Flora (known as Lily, as that was her middle name) died in Barnet in 1969. They’d married in 1926. Flora was born on the 28th of December 1892, but I’m not sure about Thomas, as I haven’t found much information on him.

I’d appreciate any help!

Adam

Ancestry have them in Hornsey

ADDED FindMyPast have them as Handen, search for Thomas as Flora has no first name

That would make sense, as Lily grew up in Hornsey. Thanks for that! I’ll check it out now.

Excellent! Thanks for all that. I did wonder why they never had any children of their own; Lily would only have been 33 when they married. Her sister Helen never had any children either, and their brother John (Jack) married his first cousin in 1942, and never tried for children on medical advice.

It was fun to do. You can easily trace the family back ie Thomas's father, think the father married at least twice.

Keep safe,

John
