Title: Bridget McGuire?
Post by: Boxeo on Tuesday 10 November 20 14:43 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I'm looking to find the date of death for my 4th great grandmother, I believe her name was Bridget McGuire when she died.

I think she was born Bridget Devlin in 1844 in Ireland, she married my 4th great grandfather Michael Bergin in 1868 in Houghton Le Spring, Durham. I think Michael died in 1876 and Bridget remarried to a William McGuire in 1878 in Lanchester, Durham.

I'm trying to find the date she died so I can look into ordering a death certificate for more info.

Thanks

just some information

William McGuire married Bridget Bergen 1878 Lanchester RD

Bridget and Thomas born 1879 Lanchester RD mmn Devlin

so she in on all census including 1911 so she died after this year

in 1911 she is living in Easington district - there is a death in 1914 Easington RD and a one in 1922

is the death for William McGuire in 1921 Easington RD her husband?

Thanks very much.

I think she was 70 in 1911 looking at that census, does it show the age of death for 1914 and 1922?

Edit - although that's even more confusing now as I have her being born in 1844  ???

1914 = 71 years (born c1843)
1922 = 76 years (born c1846)

IF her husband died in 1921:

for £1.50 you could see where he was buried (or someone might find information online)

IF Bridget died in 1922

Do you know what sort of info a death certificate would show? Just wondering if it would confirm a maiden name.

links aren't working properly so you would have to search on durhamrecordsonline

https://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/NewSearch.php

re maiden name on death certificate - I don't think so?

it will have name, age, place of death, cause of death, who reported it...

IF she died in 1914 it could be the same address she was at in 1911

Interesting! Thank you

Would assume she passed in 1922 then.

How did you access that by the way?

There are a number of electoral rolls for Co Durham on FindMyPast. If the correct William and Bridget it looks as though he died in the 3rd quarter of 1921 and she died in the 2nd quarter of 1922. They should, therefore, both appear in the 1921 census.
