Title: Kings Royal Rifles - Machine Gun Corp
Post by: ganga on Friday 04 December 20 13:28 GMT (UK)
I have a photo of someone i'm told is my great uncle, his cap badge is that of the Machine Gun Corp, but the ,military records i have found for him show that he was in the Kings Royal Rifles.

records show he was a Lewis gunner  ( he was captured at St Quentin on 21/3)

was the MGC ever part of KRR in WW1  ?

No, two distinct separate entities entirely.

As a Lewis gunner, no reason why he may have transferred.  What was his name/number.

As far as I am aware, when the MGC was formed in October 1915, men were transferred across to it.
My wife's Grandfather transferred from the KOYLI over to them later in the war.

Frank.
