-
I have asked the moderator to move your post to the Australia board
Can you please include what info you already have so we don't waste time duplicating? Who & when did he marry? When did he die etc etc
-
I have no further information on him I'm afraid, although i have tried
-
What is your connection to him? Putting his name into Ancestry shows some possibilities but I don't have a Worldwide sub to view the entries
-
His father Robert Provan, born 1790, died 1870, worked in a silk factory in Paisley, Scotland is my great -great grandfather
-
Unfortunately the Scotlands People website is down for maintenance at the moment as I was going to check in case he returned to Scotland and died there
I see his younger brother Alexander named one of his sons Malcolm
-
He was my grandfather, he named one of his sons Malcolm too, he was my father
-
I found this on Family Search but info is sparse so no way of knowing if it is your Malcolm

Thanks all, you've done a great job. I wonder what happened to the 229 pounds Malcom Provan left?? quite a lot of money in these days I guess.
Interestingly enough my mother had a small gold nugget which she had on a bracelet and which came from an 'uncle' who had been in the Australian gold rush. As is the way of it I did not ask which uncle when she was still alive, but it could have been Malcolm
I notice he died without wive or children so I think I will leave it here.
Have a good Christmas and stay safe. :)
