Their son Robert Archer was born1799 Blanchland Northumberland.
Where do you find the information and evidence that Robert was born in Blanchland?
There is a baptism of a Robert, parents George and Grace in Newcastle in 1803 which fits with the others linked to by osprey above.

On Jane's baptism, George is noted as mariner, native of this chapelry, by his wife Grace, daughter of John Bowers, mariner of this chapelry. Jane was born 24 July and baptised 28 August.
Likewise on Christopher's baptism George mariner native of this chapelry - All Saints.
So George born in the parish but John Bowes 'of the parish' but not born there.
Just spotted another baptism at Newcastle All Saints 25 August 1789 George son of George Archer, mariner.
Ooops, hadn't noticed the difference in date & place of Robert's baptism. :-[

Have had record of birth Robert Archer 1799 Blanchland Northumberland in my files for many years, I believe it was from census. However I believe since receiving today`s replies Robert Archer 1803 Newcastle is correct birth record.
The census records gives occupation of Robert as coffee roaster.
-
census records for Robert the coffee roaster give his place of birth as Blanchland and fits with being born in 1798/9. Age in 1841 census has been rounded down to 40.
There are Archer families in Blanchland baptising children around the correct time including a Robert who was married to Ann Nesbit.
:-\
-
Robert baptised 1 July 1798 in Blanchland son of Ann Nesbit.
Robert Archer married Ann Nesbitt in Blanchland 16 June 1804

As others have stated I think you will find Robert was not the Son of Robert/Grace,
Your Robert says he was born Blanchard.
He was the Son of Ann Nesbit who married Robert Archer in 1804.
The other Robert born 1803 to Robert/Grace is a Shoemaker on Census.

but the Robert who was a coffee roaster is older than the one born in 1803 and was born in Blanchland, not Newcastle Upon Tyne. Different ages on census, different places of birth, different people!

This is not the same Robert Archer as the one who was born at Blanchland.

There is only 4 years difference in ages I understand what you are saying but it is so confusing. Will have to try to sort records out.
Thank you for all your help.

from the birth regs of the children, Elizabeth's maiden name is Gilderoy or similar
Hannah Archer june qtr 1838 N-u-T vol 25 pg 310 mmn Gilderoy
Edward Archer sept qtr 1840 N-u-T vol 25 pg 327 mmn Gildercy
Margaret Archer june qtr 1844 N-u-T vol 25 pg 336 mmn Gilderry
Marriage 3 Aug 1823 for Robert Archer & Elizabeth Gilroy
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NJFZ-XM2
both otp, Robert signs, Elizabeth marks, witnesses Thomas Scott, possibly the parish clerk, and Mary Coreen(?).
If the Robert born 1803 married on that date, he would have been under age.
-
Thank You. Now I understand :-[ :-[ So the Robert Archer born 1799 is the correct person.

Would he have had to be 21.
-
21 is full age, yes. So, Robert Archer born 27 Oct 1803 and baptised in 1804 would have been under twenty at the time of that marriage.
The Robert born 1803 married Elizabeth Scover in 1828 as supplied by Trish1120.
I had some credit on Durham Records and checked the marriage
St Brandon, Brancepeth 24 May 1828 Robert Archer otp & Elizabeth Scorer otp, witnesses Robert Hubberthorn, Isabella Holburn, Jane Scorer, & George Hills.

Thank You you have been so helpful.
