Is there a database exclusively for RC Nuns? I suspect one of my ancestors may have joined the Order. Where do I find out evidence to support that?
Thank you for your time.

Which Order (there are quite a few)? I don't know of any such database but suspect that each Order would hve kept their own records. If you know the person's name (don't think she was your ancestor but possibly a relative) then you could search through deaths of other records depending on the date (of which there's no indication in your post).

Rather than start a new thread I hope you don't mind that I piggyback this one.
Please see attached. She was born in Rathkea townland, May 31, 1911
I wrote to the convent in Ceylon where she died and got no response :(

Hi David,
Are you seeking information or have you just posted because the thread is about nuns? It is not clear.
Thanks

So she was my grandfather's sister. I know she died of 'consumption' aka TB. Running her name through Ancestry etc. the only hit I got was her birth record.
Looks like any records for Ceylon require $
I wrote to the convent and they never responded. Not sure what other avenues there are left to explore.

Thanks for the reply.
Hopefully merrick7 can help you. The address is a bit confusing.

Sorry, I meant ‘Ceylon, South Africa’.
Perhaps it means she was a nun in both places :-\
If she joined the Good Shepherd Sisters in Ireland, there may be records with the order there.

Just to update this, I was able to get a full life story from the Ireland chapter via the archives in France. Very impressed and appreciative.

That’s excellent news. :)
