This family connected with the family names of Lydia, Woodger, and Long right through to Phillis Lydia Hodge (married name). The Thomas Simmonds who married a Hannah Long on the 15/4/1823 Maidstone Kent her death 13/12/1857 East Maidstone kent and Thomas's death date 20/9/1849 Maidstone Kent. I have searched trying to find the proper Thomas Simmonds who has the names Lydia, Woodger and Long in the Record. I will keep on searching later. :-[ :-\

According to GRO Index, Thomas's age was recorded as 50 when he died in 1849, so possible birth  circa 1798-1800. (Assuming this is the Thomas you are looking for)

Do you have the death certificate? Does the name of the informant, place of death or occupation give any clue to his identity?

Other baptisms indexed at West Kingsdown to Thomas and Lydia Symmons
Sophy 1791 (Simans)
Agnes 1792
William 1794
Phillis 1796

There's a Jeremiah (Simmons), 1803, Farningham.

Those female names do come up in the baptisms in Maidstone later to Thomas and Hannah.

Here's the Simmonds family in Maidstone in the 1841 census (image)
Thomas is 41. Occupation ?

Good Morning jonw65 thank you ever so much this is very interesting, on the 1841 Census with wife Hannah and children he is listed as a Fossilist, also mentioned on her death certificate is a Sarah it looks like Naylor who was present at the death Infirmary, this was also under the date that Hannah Simmonds died on the 13/12/1857 Infirmary. This is getting more and more interesting I am glad to have searched more. :-[ :-\

Regards,
Janet :)

Hi Janet
I don't think I've ever seen a Fossilist in the census before! No wonder I couldn't read it.
Here's hoping that Thomas was giving a few hints with those names for his children, and particularly that Woodger is going to be lucky for you!

Good Morning jonw65 thanks again for your help I don't have much luck in searching but I have sent a few emails out to the places that were mentioned, time for a cuppa, take care and thanks, its very hard searching from Australia, I have the CD of Maidstone records, the baptism I have down for Thomas in 1801 he was the son of a Mary, father unknown she had two sons, the other James. :-\
A lot of other researches have his parents down as Joseph Simmonds and wife Elizabeth, but his name doesn't appear with these parents. :-\

Regards,
Janet :-[
