I’m looking for information on Caroline and Gus McCormack who were born around 1890 (could be earlier).
All I know is that they came from a circus family, they did shows around Ireland where they would show perform a play then offer stuff like fortune tellings after. I was told these were called sittup shows but can’t find anything about that. Gus had 4 brothers, one of which joined the Duffy’s circus. They had a child called Violet around 1925 on the road who then married John Whittle who was also from County Waterford and came from a fishing family.
Any information is greatly appreciated

An article here mentions a marriage of James McCormick.
https://censusconnections.ie/the-circus-is-coming-to-town/
Here it is - perhaps a brother to Augustus
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1915/09806/5560397.pdf
Going back to Gus and Caroline, the census shows her born in England.
There is a baptism:
3rd June 1888, Prescot, Lancashire
Caroline Mahon born 21st May 188
Parents Edward Mahon, a travelling showman and Annie.

I can’t see a marriage to John Whittle but here is a Violet McCormick/James McCormick marriage - both circus artists
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1940/08849/5200186.pdf
Her father is Frederick though.
There might be a large family of McCormicks in the circus trade.

McCormacks were a massive show family, and I don’t think James McCormack is relevant, Id have to ask. She definitely became a Whittle because my great uncle and his siblings are Whittle’s.

1915 is too old as their daughter Violet was born around 1925. But yes, they travelled and were constantly on the road making it so hard to find anything about them :(

Here is a couple who will be part of your extended family.
I think you need a big sheet of paper ;)
The marriage of Samuel ‘Magon’ and Violetta McCormack. His father is Edward so looks to be a brother to Caroline.
Violetta’s father is John.

I think they did in later life, but Caroline and Gus were definitely in the South

I was thinking more your Whittle/McCormack marriage as it doesn’t show up in marriages in Irish genealogy.
What else are you looking for?

Possibly two more baptisms for children of this couple (ie. the parents' names match), they are from transcript, I haven't seen the original registers, so they come with that big health warning:
- New Ross RC parish, Co. Wexford, Patrick John McCormack, baptised 16 March 1882 (birth 10 March), sponsors John Dalton and Jane Dalton;
- Clonbroney RC parish, Co. Longford, William McCormack, baptised 27 March 1885, sponsors Thomas Shaw and Mary A Cullen, a comment attached to this transcript says 'may have been travelling actors histrioni in forma panpstasis'.

I presume that is Gus described as a daughter.

Well done, heywood :D
...searched and searched to try to find a census record for the family.
The last daughter named Velita ::)

Just to note a possibility for Christina in 1859 (St. Catherine's, Dublin, 5 lines up from bottom):

Edited to add: Parent's marriage in St. Andrew's, Dublin, at the end of 1845:

BTW, there is a detailed tree on the 'Ancestry' website corroborating the idea that these are Christina's parents (ie. the one who married John McCormick). That doesn't mean it's correct. But certainly worth noting for now, until it can be ruled in or out.
