Title: Mary Catherine Roberts, Connah's Quay or Flint
Post by: mikestout on Friday 26 November 21 18:01 GMT (UK)
I am researching Mary Catherine Roberts.  She married Richard H Roberts in 1937 in Wrexham.  I have found her in two 1911 census's with the same age but with different fathers and locations.  One is in Flint and the other in Connah's Quay, towns which are next to each other.  I think that the only way I can resolve this is by seeing who the mother of father is on the marriage certificate or Parish Record of Marriage.  I cant see marriage record in the North Wales BMD which makes me think that there is no marriage certificate, and I can't find a copy of the Parish Record that shows the father.  Any ideas?

There is a baptism at Llangefni 4th Feb 1908 for a Mary Catherine Roberts, parents Thomas & Mary Ann which possibly links to that birth registration.  Abode 16 Church Terrace.

Sorry, I will have to leave this with you to check further

The two options I have for birth is born in Connah's Quay, daughter of Elias Roberts and Elizabeth Roberts, or born in Flint, daughter of Robert Roberts and Catherine Roberts.  Both of these are from the 1911 census and show her with the same age

If she was born late in December there's a good chance she wasn't registered till 1908.

Holywell Mar qtr 1908
Mary Catherine Roberts.,
The odd thing is there are 2 entries with the same reference number, one has mmn Parry, the other is Edwards.

Yes, all a bit odd.  Hopefully when the marriage certificate arrives it will clear it up.

North Wales BMD indicate that there was an amendment

ROBERTS   Mary Catherine       1908   Flint   Flintshire (Mold)   FLNT/46/59a

The 1911 for Elias and Elizabeth Roberts has them married 6 years.
There is only one match.
He married Elizabeth Parry in 1904 at Llandyrnog. Denbigh.

Checking the Robert Roberts family, the son David Griffith Roberts b 1898  has mmn  Edwards. Also same mmn for Gwilym b 1902.

No idea I am afraid.  Indexes normally show an 'a' after those that have been amended, it could be anything that had been written wrongly or missed from the original registration

Possible registration of younger sister of Mary C with parents Elias & Elizabeth
ROBERTS, JANE       mmn PARRY

I think that it is still possible that those 2 births with the same registration on GRO are different Mary Catherine Roberts.
