I am trying to find an image of the Black Horse Inn, Thorpe Bank, Little Steeping, Spilsby. I believe that (if the building still stands) it may well be a private residence as I understand that the last time it was open as an inn was in 1936.

Have you tried looking on google maps?
There's a Black Horse House comes up on a search so maybe that is the same property.

Whilst it doesn't have a name, there is an Inn marked on this 1898 map on what is now cnr Thorpe Bank and Station Rd. (just south of Little Steeping)

Looking on google street view you can't really see the house as it's behind some bushes. :-\

Side by Side with new house under construction

(Can't figure out how to do a side by side with the map that DCB posted. This one just shows the inn as a PH.)

Thank you for replying -- just looked at this and it comes up as a modern 4 bedroom detached house. Looks as though the Inn has been demolished at some stage.

maddys52; ShaunJ and DCB -- many thanks for your replies. Very interesting to see the location on an old OS map.

I think the Black Horse is hidden behind some trees (as already mentioned). Unfortunately Streetview "jumps" when you try to get close to the spot.
This map shows the Black Horse - 1888 https://maps.nla.uk/view/101589875

Thank you for finding this -- I wonder if a family member applied for the licence in 1954. Isaac was still alive at this stage, he would have been 72 years of age, it even could have been him.

Skegness Standard, 14 Mar 1945
Supt. A Harvey objected to the renewal of the following five licenses on the grounds of redundancy - ...; Black Horse, Thorpe St. Peter; ...
With regard to the Black Horse, Thorpe St Peter, Inspector Milbourn said the licensee and owner was Mr Isaac Carey. It was fully licensed for six days a week, and was last open as an inn on Sept 30th, 1936. It was a free house. The licensee was a small holder with 16 acres attached to the premises. He informed him that he had closed the house owing to the illness of his wife.

Just to add, in 1905 Kelly's Lincolnshire directory Isaac Carey was in Black Horse public house.

Thank you, I also found this a couple of weeks ago.
