Welcome to Rootschat.

The only Thomas baptised WEST KILBRIDE was much earlier, below. There are a couple of others in the County but quite distant from the location you mention, how do you know he was born there?

THOMAS ORBIE HUNTER   son of   ROBERT HUNTER/JANET AITCHISON    23/10/1766   West Kilbride

Was given the information by my mother in law, but no documentation.

Thanks for replying, Thomas Orbie Hunter is related to the Lairds, so I dont think there will be a connection. Peter Larns Darcy father was definetly a Thomas, was on the marriage certificate. Back to the drawing board, thanks again.

I think you might mean West Kilbride in Ayrshire? It's not far from Hunterston Castle (maybe a couple of miles). I manage a DNA kit that links back to the Hunters of Hunterston. Have you done any DNA testing?
