John Paterson was born in Kirkpatrick-Iuxta, Dumfriesshire and died of a collision with a cart horse on the public road, in May 1862. Address in Johnstone, Dumfriesshire: Williamson Cottage. He had five children: James (1810-1871), Janet (1816-1881), Alexander (1817-?), Ann(e) (1820-1898) and John Paterson (1825-1886).
Jane Jardine's time and place of birth? Also: time and place of death and date of marriage.

Failing so far on your questions but some additional details for you.
Daughter Ann looks to have been born in 1818 not 1820 (although the one born in 1818 could have died young and name reused). From the OPRs on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk you have:
ANN HOPE JOHNST. PATTERSON
Parents JOHN PATTERSON/JEAN JARDINE
Chr. 08/09/1818
Ref 832/10 49
Johnstone, Dumfriesshire

No sign of Jean/Jane in 1851 but she does show as alive in 1841:
John Paterson 50 lab agr.
Jean Paterson 50
Margrat White 10
Address: Williamson , Johnstone
Like husband John, Jean also shows as born in Dumfriesshire and looks to be of a similar age to John.

Dear Monica,
Thank you very much for your most helpful replies.

That is a great find, Rosie ;)
So, from this entry, Jane Jardine born c. 1787 like her husband John.
Bouwe, have you viewed John Paterson's death reg from 1861? If you have, what were the names of his parents?
Monica
-
Monica looking at the death index on S P
Assuming this is the right one
John Paterson 1862 no age given
Johnstone Dumfries
Mothers maiden name Henderson
Rosie

Thanks, Rosie. Nothing obvious in the OPRs for his birth.
Monica
-
I wonder about this one going by the mothers maiden name ?
There is this marriage
Jane Jardine
John Henderson
25 January 1810
Dalton Dumfries
Rosie
Don't think this is them ( sorry)
-
Is this for a marriage?
Monica

Is this for a marriage?
Monica
Yes but don't think it's their marriage as l can see baptisms for children of John Henderson and Jane
Jardine

Re John's parents, I see there is a James Paterson, husband of a Helen Mitchell. He was born in Kilpatrick-Juxta c. 1797. His parents are showing as James Paterson and Jean Henderson. Let's see if John Paterson's death reg included his parents' names!
Monica

Agree Monica death certificate needed ;)
Rosie
-
I have a James Paterson, christened, September 9, 1792, Palaceknow, Kirkpatrick Iuxta. Father is a
James Paterson, chr. c. 1760, in Kirkpatrick Iuxta.
I think the James chr. in 1792 may be a younger brother of the John Paterson who married Jane/Jean Jardine.

As mentioned, have you been able to confirm John's parents from his death registration?
Monica
-
Dear Monica,
I have not been able to see John Paterson's death certificate. I have probably found his death recorded in one of the newspapers available in the British Newspaper Archive.
I found the note I made: "Died of a collision with a cart horse on the public road."
best regards,
Bouwe
