I cannot find a marriage between Walter WRIGHT and a bride called WHEAT, let alone one called Lucy.
Can anyone help, please?

Reversed from your list, but correct as per 1939.
Is this Annie’s birth?

Thank you, but now I'm baffled. How can we both consult the '39 and get such different results? Yours certainly make more sense than mine.
If Annie's MMN is also WHEAT, then all the offspring have the same mother; again, what one would expect, but, who is she? I've had two instances of a couple declaring to the world that they are married when they most definitely were not, so, is that what we've got here?
-
Thinking about my inability to find a WRIGHT/WHEAT marriage, as suggested in my previous post, perhaps there wasn't one. That might explain the (?) which I put after Lucy's description of herself as 'single' in the '39. I had expected her to describe herself as a widow but, if they were never married.......
Unfortunately, if that is the case, we'll never find her 'maiden' name!

I’ve been trying to find Lucy & Annie in 1911. Presumably as WHEAT but perhaps living with and taking the name of a man of another surname. Nothing.

Having spent 3 weeks trying to sort out this root, last night I completely failed to see the wood for the trees! We have 2 records of this lady's forename, and no fewer than 7 records of her surname plus, for good measure, her complete DoB. Unfortunately, thus far a search for the birth of Lucy WHEAT in 1888 has drawn a blank!

In 1901 there is a Lucy Wheat born 1888 in Nottingham with her widower father William- also born in Notingham in 1851- he is a "Rag man". They are at 10 Long Stairs, Nottingham.

Thanks. I was just about to report the same record, having failed to find her in 1891.
The combination of names certainly is very rare, if not unique, amongst girls born ca 1888.

In your first reply, you conclude with "none of which is any help" - how wrong you were!
Thanks

Apologies for not acknowledging your posting earlier.
That has to be 'our' Annie.
Thank you

Not sure if/how it would be relevant, but there is a birth of a Lucy Wheat Tollington in Nottingham in 1887. Her death is registered (FreeBMD) in 1890 under both Lucy Wheat Tollington and Lucy Wheat Wheat.

Might also be worth looking more closely at this birth - year & quarter both fit:
ATKIN, LUCY WHEAT mmn LOVE

Hello.... :)
Just to add to your Annie that Comberton mentioned......
I wonder how relevant it is to the baptisms taking place at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church ?
Baptism - NOTTINGHAM St Patrick R.C
WALTER born 25 Aug 1908 - baptised 31 Aug 1908 - mother = Lucy WHEAT, abode 1 Woodland St.
There is a burial for a Walter Wheat along with three other burials on https://www.deceasedonline.com/servlet/GSDOSearch - I haven't seen the details as I don't have any credits - burial date 07 September 1908

Thank you all.
We know that 'our' Lucy was living with her father, William WHEAT, at 10 Long Stairs, Nottingham in 1901.
William was a widower, birth year 1851; occupation "Rag man, working on own account".
Both were born in Nottingham.
I've had a quick look for them in 1891, without success.
