trying to find anything on the death of alexander cormac. born 9th dec 1868 died 4 jan 1907 pentland firth . apparantly he died at sea.any help on name of boat etc. thank you.

There are several newspaper articles about it. This from the Banffshire Advertiser of 10-1-1907:
FISHING BOAT SWAMPED - THREE MEN
DROWNED. - While a number of fishing boats were
employed herring fishing off the Caithness coast, on
Friday night, a boat belonging to Keiss, eight miles
north of Wick, drew so many herrings on board
that she was swamped, and the crew of three were
drowned. Their names were - William Bain and
Donald Bain, half-brothers, and Alexander
Cormack, brother-in-law. William Bain and
Cormack were married, and leave widows and
families. Donald Bain was unmarried.

Death Certificate just says drowned at sea. 4th January 1907. Married to Jane Bain. Father William Cormack (fisherman) Isabella Cormack 9maiden surname Miller)
Informant on death certificate was James Robertson - brother -in-law.
also listed are William Bain. died 4 January 1907 - drowned at sea.
and Donald Bain. died 4 January 1907 - drowned at sea.

The Ross-shire Journal (11-1-1907) and the Aberdeen Daily Journal (7-1-1907) both follow the account in the Banffshire Advertiser, both adding at the end "It is stated the cries of the drowning men were heard from the shore."
The most detailed account is in the Inverness Courier of 8-1-1907:
THREE FISHERMEN DROWNED. - A fishing
boat disaster occurred off Keiss Bay on Fri-
day evening. It appears that the small boats
prosecuting the winter herring fishing left
Keiss in the afternoon. On returning home-
wards one of their number was swamped and
foundered off the Point of Aukengill, a short
distance from Keiss. Three men, who
formed the crew, Wm. Bain and Donald
Bain, half-brothers, and Alexander Cormack,
brother-in-law of the Bains, were drowned.
William Bain and Cormack were married and
leave widows and families. Donald Bain
was unmarried. It is supposed that the
boat was overloaded with herrings, and it is
stated that the cries of the drowning men
were heard on shore.

Hello,
I want to thank you for posting this.
I have been wondering what had happened to Alexander.
I am his granddaughters granddaughter.
Have been doing a small amount of research and could not find anything, I am saddened by this.
His wife must have had such a hard life after the accident.
I have visited one of their sons grave, (my grany's uncle) in France.
Do you have any info on how they were related to the Bain's, was it one of Alexander's sisters?
How are you related to them?
And me?

Alexander Cormack married Jane Bain...
Jane Bain was the sibling/sister of William & Donald Bain (half-brothers) i.e. Alexander Cormack was their brother-in-law.

How are you related?
I will have to do some further research as my Alexander that vanished around the same time was married to Alexanderina (as far as I am aware, will have to dig further).

If you can post some known info. - names/maiden names/dates/places, I'm sure we can try & help?
I had a look on scotlandspeople for a marriage with the names you have & this was all I found although I've no idea whether it's relevant or not as your dates are unknown...
