Thanks all - does anyone know which Army Regiment it was & where would he have served ?
-
He was in the 8th Hussars and served only in the home islands. He did not serve overseas.
-
Lovely, thanks - he only served 2 years, was that normal ?
-
He was discharged owing to a reduction of the Army. Also being totally unfit for further service, due to chronic enlargement if the right testicle. Attributable to contusion against the saddle, when having instruction in the riding school. The disability caused by military service.
His conduct was good.
-
Were you able to confirm that he was your relative, Angie?
-
Yes, he was my great, great grandfather - is it possible for you to send me his army records please ?
-
You must not ask for things from pay to view sites, it’s against their
Ts & Cs. I’m sorry.
-
Ok, sorry I didn’t know that, apologies
-
In your original post you mention RRH - so I think Royal Regiment of Hussars. This leads to:
http://britishcavalryregiments.com/30-10H/10H.html
which suggests India and Crimea.
