Title: Different Marriage Dates?
Post by: Sam from Stoke on Saturday 17 September 22 18:05 BST (UK)
Hello, hopefully someone can help with this one!  I ordered a copy marriage cert from the GRO back in 2006 and duly noted the dates etc in my family tree.

Today I have noticed a 'hint' online to the marriage cert, so thought i would link it to my tree but... the dates are different!  The transcript to the online image has 12th November, which is not what is written on the actually scan of the certificate.

Can anyone explain why this might be and which is more likely to be correct?

The lower image was signed by the respective parties and the original certificate. The top image a copy in ALL the same handwriting was taken probably by the officiating vicar and sent to the GRO, so an error.

Other's will soon correct me if I am wrong.

I don't see the problem - they both say November 12th.

Look at the 2 in 32 and the 2 in 12th, they are both wriiten in the same way

I agree with emeltom, they both show the 12th.
At a quick glance the bottom one looks like 18, but if you enlarge it it's clearly 12th.

Thanks everyone, I a numpty and clearly wasn't zooming in closely enough and panicked when I saw what I thought was an eight.  It's nice to know the vicar didn't make an error after all  :)
