Title: Tnitwhistle baptisms please
Post by: sunflower on Saturday 29 October 22 14:50 BST (UK)
Looking for baptisms (or any information ) on two brothers Samuel and Thomas Kershaw.

I have two documents which state they were from Tintwhistle.
One document states that Thomas left Tintwhistle in July 1801 and joined the Nottinghamshire Militia. He died in Mansfield in 1810 but no age given.
Samuel also moved to Mansfield and died there in 1837 aged 60 which put his birth around 1777.

I have all the information on them after they moved to Nottinghamshire, but nothing before.

Any information would be great.

Have you tried   https://cprdb.csc.liv.ac.uk/

Although it’s in Cheshire - UKBMD shows it as Oldham & Ashton RD from 1837

Tintwistle Church wasn’t built until 1836 previous to that the village was served by Mottram in Longendale St Michael church.

Good find & there may have been others between those dates?

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Good find but the date doesn't fit for Samuel's age at burial.

It's worth remembering that the age at death and any other information given is only as good as the knowledge of the person giving it. They will have given his age as what they thought it was, which may not have been correct.
