Title: East Lancashire Home
Post by: Floss on Wednesday 02 November 22 16:33 GMT (UK)
I wonder if anyone can help.  I have an ancestor that, in 1939, was resident in East Lancashire Home, Park Lane, Kersal.  It says he is incapacitated.  His wife and grown up children are all living in and around Hull.  Can anyone tell me what this home was ? I'm wondering why he would be there and not somewhere nearer to home.

Thanks

fiona

It looks to be a Home for disabled soldiers.
There is a 1939newspaper snippet on Find my Past, which I can’t access in full, which is an advert for a Ward Maid at East Lancashire Home for Disabled Soldiers, Park Lane.
There are other snippets.

This may be it now https://www.broughtonhouse.com/

It was a home for disabled ex-servicemen.

"East Lancashire Homes for Disabled Sailors and Soldiers" also known as Broughton House
