My ancestor Mary PHILLIPS is on the 1841 census of Bristol aged 61, in the Parish or Township of St Mary Redcliff. I am presuming that she died before the 1851 census in the same area, and I would like to purchase her death certificate. The trouble is that her name is a common one and I am going to spend a fortune buying certificates before I get the correct certificate. Is it possible to narrow my search to the St Mary Redcliff parish? Should I be looking in Bedminster and not Bristol? Hoping someone can help me please.
Regards, Rob

This death?
PHILLIPS, MARY 76
GRO Ref: 1851 March Quarter BRISTOL Volume 11 Page 148
The Bristol Reg District does include St Mary Redcliffe
Added - The images of the parish burials are on Anc and her abode is listed as Temis?? Court - Found another entry which clearly says Tennis Courts - adjacent to Redcliff Square where I think Mary was living in 1841

Thanks Kay, I guess this Mary is a possibility considering 1841 census ages. I'm not sure what info I will get off a GRO certificate but it looks like another £7 coming up.
Thanks again, Rob

It's worth remembering that registering a death was not a legal requirement until the Births and Deaths Act of 1874, so your Mary Philips death may not have been registered.
