I am looking for descendants of a James Robson, who was born in Kelso around 1845 and died in Hawick 23 Nov 1915 at the Carnegie Free Library in Bridge Street in Hawick. He was a stone mason to trade, Married to Margaret Harris and they had 9 children, all of whom were alive in the 1911 census.
He was the grandson of my 3 x Great Grand father, also James Robson, and the son of William Robson and Jane Tinline.
Margaret, his wife died on 29 March 1923 at 25 Beaconsfield Terrace Hawick.
Any help in pointing my way forward would be appreciated

Have you checked the Surname Interests Board? Scroll to bottom of page & link is under TOOLS
If you have Ancestry access - there is a tree online
Have you checked Scotlands People for deaths of the children? www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

It looks more likely that James was born in England.
ROBSON, JAMES TURNBULL
GRO Reference: 1844 M Quarter in TYNEMOUTH UNION Volume 25 Page 419
No birth record for Margaret or marriage record on SP
JAMES ROBSON DIED AGE 69 MMN TURNBULL 1915 HAWICK
MARGARET ROBSON DIED AGE 69 MMN MAXWELL 1923 HAWICK
There are 7 birth registrations on https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk mother HARRIS/HARRES
1878 – 1896 and 6 children on the 1911, if I have the correct family.

It looks like these are the 9 children you mention, they all appear on the 1891/1901 censuses but I cannot find the family in 1881?
ROBSON REGISTERED HAWICK MOTHER HARRIS/ HARRES (EXCEPT 2)
CHILDREN OF JAMES & MARGARET
JANET 1878
JAMES 1880
GEORGE 1882
WILLIAM 1884
JOHN 1888
ANDREW 1889
OLIVER 1896
MARGARET MILLER NO MMN 1895
THOMAS MOTHER MORRIS 1886
As there are no others MMN Morris, I think this is an error for Harris.

Colin, I think this is their 1881 entry:
James Robson 35 mason
Maggie Robson 25
Janet Robson 2
James Robson 11 months
Address: 23 Loan St, Hawick

From the list of children that Colin has posted, there is one early death showing for the family:
Oliver ROBSON
Age 17
Mother's maiden name HARRIS
1913
789 / 241
Hawick
Monica
-
This might be the marriage of son Andrew in Hawick. He had the middle name of Harris:
ANDREW H ROBSON and
ELIZABETH S P KENNEDY
1920
789 / 89
Hawick
I think these parents' names might connect with this death on the SP index:
MARGARET HARRIS ROBSON
Age 90
Mother's maiden name KENNEDY
2018
823 / 175
Hawick
Just guesses ;)

There are WW1 Service Papers for a William Robson b 1884 in Hawick which fits with the William in the family.
On these, he lists a marriage to a Jane Scott in Hawick on 19 Jun 1910. Four sons born so far after the marriage by 1915 and his enlistment.
Home address in 1915 showing as 16 Lothian Street, Hawick.

This is daughter Margaret's marriage in Hawick:
MARGARET H ROBSON and
ROBERT MURPHY
1918
789 / 65
Hawick
There is a shipping manifest entry for the Murphys arriving in Michigan, US on 29 Dec 1919. Margaret gave her mother Margaret Harris and home address for contact details back in Scotland.
I believe she died in 1963, from her Social Security Index entry:
Margaret Harris Murphy/Margaret Harris Robson
Birth 22 Aug 1893 Hawick Roxburgh, United Kingdom
Father: James Robson
Mother: Margaret Harris
SSN: 474546900
Notes: Aug 1963: Name listed as MARGARET HARRIS MURPHY

;D I should have checked earlier....
There is an Ancestry family tree (you need a subs to view) for the family with further details on the children www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/57042848/person/46018287187/facts
Quite a lot of details on it and includes a couple of photos too. Hope you are able to access :)

Just to clarify this Robson family, I am a direct descendant of James Robson and Margaret Harris, my Robson tree is on Ancestry. James Robson married Margaret Harris in Edinburgh on 23 Nov 1877, The Harris family originate in Fife, however, Margaret Harris was working as a domestic servant at Stirches, Hawick. James Robson gives his parents as James Robson, dec and Janet Robson, ms Turnbull. James and Margaret Robson had 9 known children which I believe you also know of.
James Robson married Janet Turnbull approx 1835, Janet Turnbull already had a son John Anderson born approx 1830 in Jedburgh,( died 1905 in Hawick) the 1851 shows the family living at Greenwynd, Hawick, James & Janet Robson give Wilton as their place of birth,
The known children of James Robson and Janet Turnbull are:
Janet born approx 1836.
William born 1838 married Ann Smith.
Walter born 14th Dec 1839 died infancy, buried in Wilton CY
James born 15th Dec 1841 died infancy, buried in Wilton CY
Walter born in 1844 married Isabella Crozier in 1872.
James born in 1846 married Margaret Harris 1877 and died 1915
Thomas born 1850 married Penuel Graham. 1882.
James Robson died Jan 20th 1870 age 80yrs,
Father William Robson, dec.
Mother Isabella Robson, ms Turnbull,dec.
Informant William Robson, son.
Janet Robson, died 9th Dec 1882 age 81yrs, widow of James Robson.
Father Walter Turnbull.
Mother Janet Turnbull ms Hogg.
Notified by William Robson, son.
James & Janet Robson are buried in Wellogate cemetery, Hawick.
In 1861 the family is recorded with the surname Robertson at Greenwynd, Hawick,
There is currently no known connection to Kelso, if you are able to provide any documents with this information I would be very interested in looking at them otherwise my research will rely on the documents which I have, also if you have an Ancestry DNA test from any family members that could potentially be a match with me that would be another option,
Regards
Amanda Robson.

Thank you, I note the family in 1851, I cannot find a marriage for James & Janet, or baptisms for any of their children in the County on SP.

Agreed there is no connection to Kelso. I picked up a birth of a James Robson who was registered in Kelso by mistake dated 1846, thinking he was the James I was researching. My error, now corrected.
Still to locate a birth/baptism for him, as you have pointed out.
Rest of your info very helpful and attending Library edition of Ancestry.

Could you please modify your original post as it contains inaccurate information?
If it is William Robson, husband of Jane Tinline you are researching he was born at Yetholm in 1808 and died Nov 244th 1867 at Hallrule, Parish of Hobkirk, his siblings were James, Janet, Thomas, Adam, Andrew and Mary. I do have other info if you are having problems.
Regards
Amanda Robson.

agreed it is the James Robson born at Yetholm that I am tracing
Apologies and thank for keeping me on the right track
