Title: Help to find Missing Parents of John A Vickers
Post by: Jayhen6 on Monday 13 March 23 09:26 GMT (UK)
Hi,
I would be very grateful for any help in assisting my search for the parents of John Anthony Vickers born 19 March 1866 in Greenwich, Kent.

He was baptised on 27 May 1866. His parents were recorded as John Vickers a solicitors clerk and Caroline was his mother.

In 1871 John Anthony age 5 years is living with an uncle Alfred King a schoolmaster at Brereton School in Cheshire. By the census of 1881 John Anthony Vickers is still living with Alfred King at the school.

I cannot find any trace of his parents (limited access to Census) I believe they were married on 24 Sept 1865 in Paddington. Father of John being William Vickers a ‘coachman’ (no further info found on William at this stage)

Any help with  this puzzle would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance

That’s great. So it looks like John has either died or left. That may explain why John Anthony was sent to live in Cheshire?.. yet his mother has two more children?..

Thank you

That’s great and may explain why John Anthony was sent to Cheshire for his education?.. Was it a sudden death I wonder for John. And a Hyde Park residence for his parents William and Isabella?.. not much info on them yet..

The 2 other children, Alfred William 1867 & Eliza Isabel 1869 who appear in 1871 census were both born pre John's death. Both went on to marry

Alfred William 1889 to Marion Frances Copp
Eliza Isabel 1895 to Henry Joseph Webb

Both record father as John Vickers, occ Clerk

So both should appear somewhere in 1881?
