Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for blood relatives of Pvt Robert James Bates - Hertfordshire Regiment - died 5/12/1916 - service no 5143 - buried Heath Lane Cemetery. Hemel Hempstead -

The Commission are in the process of producing a headstone to mark the grave of Pvt Bates.

Labourer. Resident of St Johns Road, Boxmoor. West Herts Hospital, Hemel Hempstead. Aged 22 years old.

Father Frederick passed in 1937 - Sawyer. Resident of 17 St Johns Road, Hemel Hempstead. Died at 17 St Johns Road, Hemel Hempstead. Aged 78 years old.
