Title: Dublin regiment photo identification
Post by: Mofamily on Thursday 27 July 23 12:56 BST (UK)
Hello

Could someone please tell me which Regiment this photo is from.  Obviously it is Irish, but the Regiment, rank and time-line would be really helpful.

Thanks
Mo

I'll just comment that it's the photographer who is Irish, not necessarily the soldier or his regiment. The British army rotated regiments around the home islands and the empire on a regular basis.

The tunic and undress cap is one of the Hussar cavalry regiments in the Victorian era.
No regimental badges or the cap band colour viewable.

The photo below is of NCOs from the Middlesex Hussars:

Thanks Tony
I presume it is therefore a British Regiment who were in Inchicore, Dublin at the time at the Barracks there.
I had always presumed he was a member of the Irish branch of my family.  The rest of my family are from the North East.
I have no idea who he is.
Shame!
Thanks again
